To enhance services
for new immigrants in Toufen City, the county government is holding an unveiling ceremony for the New Miaoli County Toufen Immigrant Community Service
Center on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at Toufen Youth Innovation Base
1, 232 Zhongshan Road, next to the side entrance of the Toufen City Office.
This new center aims to provide convenient services to new immigrants in the
Toufen area.
According to statistics from the Ministry of the
Interior's National Immigration Agency, Toufen has become the most populous
city in the county due to the influx of residents in the industrial park. As of
the end of May 2024, the total number of new immigrants registered in Miaoli
County reached 17,472, with over 3,000 residing in Toufen City. New immigrants
often face challenges in adapting to local life due to cultural and custom
differences. To promote social participation and increase the social support
network for new immigrants, the county has established two new immigrant family
service centers in southern and northern Miaoli with the support of the New
Immigrant Development Fund. The county has also secured subsidies from the
Social and Family Affairs Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare, to
set up three new immigrant service centers in Dahu, Zhunan, and Sanyi. To
further provide convenient services to new immigrants in the Toufen area, the
Miaoli County Toufen Taiwan Youth Gambo Association has established a fourth
new immigrant community service center, offering consultations, guidance, and
support to help new immigrants address various issues in their daily lives,
including gender equality, gender awareness, healthcare, Hakka language, and
welfare resources, for multicultural integration.
The service center will be open every Wednesday,
Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is located at Youth Innovation
Base 1 next to the side entrance of the Toufen City Office. The center will provide
welfare consultations, care visits, and referrals, and promote new immigrant
activity programs and plans for new immigrants in the local Toufen and
surrounding areas.
The county government
hopes to leverage the cooperation of various levels of government, schools, and
civil organizations, and coordinate with the two new and existing immigrant
family service centers in the county to offer more services for new and second
generation immigrants and achieve growth for individuals, schools, and the community,
cultivating a global perspective among county residents, integrating foreign
cultures into existing lives, and inspiring more wonderful interactions through
learning and exchange. We also hope for greater participation of schools,
associations, and organizations to inject more vitality into new immigrant affairs.
