The New Resident Family Service Center of Miaoli County will hold a 30-hour New Resident Interpreter Training Program on May 20, 21, 27, 28, and June 3, 2023. Native speakers of languages other than Chinese with good Chinese language ability are welcome to take a basic level language test. Applicants must have basic administrative and word processing skills to register for the program. The training program will develop interpretation skills and related professional knowledge of interpreters to improve the effectiveness of interpretation services and protect the rights of foreigners living in Miaoli County. The main tasks of interpreters are counseling and language interpretation of family services provided to new residents living Miaoli County, which includes assisting new residents in filling out and proofreading counseling documents, home visits, telephone consultations, case consultations and referrals, and assisting during legal consultation appointments. They also assist new residents in understanding laws and promoting social welfare resources to help create a friendly and diverse cultural environment for foreigners living in Miaoli County so they can positively contribute and integrate well in society. Registration period: From now until available places are full. Registration via post: Please mail the registration form and relevant documents to the Thanksgiving Charity Organization of Miaoli County (Rm. 2, 9F., No. 1, Zhanqian, Shangmiao Vil., Miaoli City) before April 28. On-site registration: Please deliver the registration form and relevant documents to the New Resident Family Service Center of Miaoli County (Rm. 2, 9F., No. 1, Zhanqian, Shangmiao Vil., Miaoli City) during working hours: 8:30-12:00 and 13:00-17:00, from Monday to Friday) before April 28. Registration by fax: Fax registration is also accepted. Please submit the required documents and bring photo ID on the day of the event.
