With the steady rise in transnational
marriages, new immigrant families have become an important and vibrant part of
society. However, they continue to face multiple challenges in areas such as family
interaction, language barriers, access to educational resources, and
socio-cultural adaptation, highlighting the need for greater support and
companionship.
In particular, children in Grades 5 and 6
of elementary school are at a critical developmental stage as they approach
adolescence. During this period, academic demands advance, while peer
relationships and self-identity become increasingly significant. Without stable
family support and appropriate guidance, children may experience a negative
impact on their learning motivation, self-confidence, and social development,
potentially leading to communication gaps and tension within family relationships.
Parents in new immigrant families may face
additional difficulties due to language barriers, cultural differences, and
unfamiliarity with the education system. As a result, they often feel pressure
and a sense of helplessness when supporting their children’s learning and
adaptation to daily life. This can, in turn, affect children’s social
interactions and emotional well-being in both school and community settings.
In response to the practical needs of new
immigrant families, the Northern Miaoli New Immigrant Family Service Center is
hosting the “Our Home · Multicultural Family Program” on Saturday, April 18,
from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Through multicultural exchange, family interactive
activities, and learning support sessions, the program aims to help parents
enhance their parenting knowledge and communication skills, while fostering
children’s learning motivation and self-confidence.
Eligible new immigrant families are warmly
invited to participate. Through shared learning and interaction, we hope to
create a warm, supportive, and empowering “home” together. Spaces are limited
and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please
