This workshop aims to explore the self-identity of Southeast Asian new immigrant mothers and their second-generation teenagers living in Taiwan, aiming to clarify the role of technology in shaping self-identity and design technology in empowering new immigrant mothers while supporting their second-generation teenagers. The research will approach this from the perspective of Southeast Asian new immigrants' technology usage, cultural background, and life experiences. Using a "female-centered human-computer interaction" design framework and considering "intersectionality," the goal is to develop a technological support program for Southeast Asian new immigrant families in Taiwan to empower mothers and help the second generation establish their self-identity.

 

▲ Participant criteria:

 

  1. Age: 20 to 65 years old
  2. Participants must originally be from a Southeast Asian country, such as Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, etc.
  3. Participants must be a mother.
  4. Participants must have children in the first grade of elementary school or older.
  5. Participants must have basic Chinese communication skills and be able to converse in Chinese, with sufficient understanding of the study's goals, procedures, and questions, and able to express oneself clearly in Chinese.
