Vietnam-Taiwan Cultural Fusion: Traditional
Cuisine and Customs Day
The Northern Miaoli
New Immigrant Family Service Center is hosting the "Vietnam-Taiwan
Cultural Fusion: Traditional Cuisine and Customs Day" event on Sunday,
January 19, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
This event is jointly
organized by the Northern Miaoli New Immigrant Family Service Center and the
New Immigrant Support Association. It will feature a gathering of iconic dishes
from both Vietnam and Taiwan. Vietnamese cuisine, celebrated for its freshness,
healthiness, and layered flavors, and Taiwanese cuisine, famous for diverse
cooking styles and regional specialties, shall join hands in this event to offer
an opportunity for Taiwanese attendees to gain deeper insights into Vietnamese
culinary culture while fostering stronger cultural connections between Vietnam
and Taiwan through delicious food.
In addition to a
culinary experience, participants can delve into the traditional festivals and
customs of both regions. Vietnamese and Taiwanese traditional celebrations
share many similarities, especially in values related to family reunions and
auspicious blessings. For instance, Vietnam's festive dish, spring rolls,
symbolizes completeness and prosperity, representing family togetherness and
success. Similarly, Taiwan's tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls) signifies reunion,
happiness, and harmony, demonstrating the remarkable symbolic parallels between the two
cultures.
On the day of the
event, a special performance by the Vietnamese Sisters Dance Troupe will
highlight traditional Vietnamese elements through dance and music. This
captivating display will not only showcase the unique artistic charm of Vietnam
but also deepen cultural interaction and understanding between the two nations.
Newcomers to Taiwan are
warmly invited to join this event and register promptly! Spots are limited and
will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please contact
Social Worker Zheng at 037-634428.
