To enhance the new immigrants’ digital
literacy, the National Immigration Agency has launched the "New Immigrant
Digital Empowerment Program." On August 31, the Agency held a creative
event titled "Digital Adventure Workshop: Don’t Fall for Online
Scams!" at the Shilin District Farmers' Association Building. A
professional cybersecurity instructor was invited to talk about cybersecurity issues
in a simple, relatable way. The event combined interactive games with teaching
and shared real-life cases of online scams in order to help new immigrants gain
a deeper understanding of the importance of cybersecurity and increase their
awareness of online safety.
The National Immigration Agency stated
that the purpose of the "New Immigrant Digital Empowerment Program"
is to help new immigrants and their children enhance their digital skills,
while promoting family learning to enrich personal abilities and make life more
convenient. This year, in response to growing concerns about cybersecurity and
media literacy, the program is also offering a free computer course titled
"Cybersecurity Risks in Everyday Life: Learning Prevention Measures from
News about Online Crime." This course aims to help new immigrants fully
understand online fraud and the importance of cybersecurity. The program also
provides free tablet and laptop rental services and offers eight online
cybersecurity courses on such topics as "Is Seeing Believing? Online
Security Sharing." These resources help new immigrants integrate
cybersecurity awareness into their daily lives, understand the dangers of
online crime, and learn how to protect themselves from these threats.
Looking ahead, the
National Immigration Agency will continue to launch more creative activities
that encourage new immigrants to actively participate in digital learning and
make greater use of technology in their daily lives. This event marks an
important step for new immigrants in integrating into the digital society,
offering them valuable learning resources and opportunities. For more
