The Service Center for New Immigrant Families of Miaoli County held “The Difference of Multiple Cultures- Cold Food Festival- New Immigrant Multiple Culture Lecture” at Shuiyuan Village Community Activity Center (No. 8, Lane 1291, Zhongzheng Road, Miaoli City) on March 26, 2022, from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 17:00 at Sanyi Township’s New Immigrant Community Service Station (No. 315-56, Shuimei, Neighborhood No. 29, Shengxing Village, Sanyi Township). Chinese eat tangyuan on winter solstice day. However, the process of making and eating Vietnamese tangyuan is quite different from that of Chinese customs. The Vietnamese custom is to eat cold food during the Cold Food Festival. They believe that it will balance the heat of summer and keep the body healthy. On the third of the third lunar month, almost every family will prepare tangyuan as the main offerings to worship gods and pray for the ancestors to bless their families.
